About- the Journey of Planting by Serving

Beginning with January 2009  we have configured this blog as a weekly dialog with a church planter that is growing a new church by serving.  Using the Compassion by Design model, this planter is walking through the whole process of moving to town, completing a needs assessment, developing leadership, launching community service in preparation for a fall 09 launch.  We’ll protect his name so that people in his town won’t get have to listen to all of us talk about his struggles, but this is a real planter, a real person in a real American town who feels called to plant by serving.  

We are walking this journey together, me as his coach, and he as the person taking all the risk and following God. I get the privilege of giving feedback and insight as we go along, and learning too about how to grow healthy churches that have the capacity to transform communities right from the start.   You will see the questions, the challenges as we go along.  Please add your insights, and ask for clarification as you read this journey.
